16th Solihull, the newest Group in Solihull, recently celebrated their success with an investiture evening. County Commissioner, Shirley, invested 3 leaders and 24 Beavers.
The Group which is part of Cole District, currently meeting at 5th Solihull Scout Hut, had their first meeting in May. They have slowly grown in number and the Beavers have already gained their Health and Fitness Badge. They are looking forward to completing the Book Reader badge as a challenge over the half-term holiday.
Over the past few months they have been supported and helped by many leaders across the County and would like to pass on their Thanks to all.
We look forward to hearing about their successes as the Group slowly grows.
We are sorry to announce the passing of Cliff Thomas in the early hours of Sunday 6th September. His health had unfortunately continued to deteriorate since Christmas 2018 and in the last few weeks of his life was cared for at St Giles Care Home,Tile Cross.
Cliff was heavily involved in Scouting nearly all his life and will be sadly missed by all his friends and family.
Cliff fulfilled many roles in Scouting mainly as a leader within the cub section based at First Shirley before taking on the role of Group Scout Leader. He then moved into a district position as ADC Cubs for several years before stepping down to take on the district secretary role. In each role he undertook he showed great enthusiasm & commitment and was awarded the Silver Acorn for his distinguished services to Scouting.
We thank him for his service to Scouting and send our sincere condolences to his family.
